Marion F. Illig

CATTARAUGUS – Marian F. Tordoff Illig, after 102 years of wonderful life, passed away peacefully at her home, Saturday, October 9, 2021.


She was born April 9, 1919 in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of the late Edward and Della (Weborg) Tordoff.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Illig, after a marriage of sixty-four years. Her life revolved around her deep faith and her unending love for her six children: James E. (Kathleen) Illig (son) of Ellicottville, NY; Patricia A. Illig (devoted daughter-in-law) of Cattaraugus, NY; Stephen J. (Pamela) Illig (son) of Hamburg, NY; Christina F. (Harry) Rudge (daughter) of Clemmons, NC; Peter K. (Michele) Illig (son) of Cattaraugus, NY; eight grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son John C. Illig and infant son Christopher Illig, brother Edward and sister June.

She was a devoted and extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

She belonged to the Civic League of Cattaraugus, Ladies Altar and Rosary Society, Bridge Club, and was an active and devout member of Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.

There will be Private Calling Hours for family members only. All are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Washington Street, Cattaraugus. Reverend Innocent Diala (Pastor), Reverend Joseph Porpiglia, and Deacon Wally Samick will be officiating. Inurnment will be in the Liberty Park Cemetery, Cattaraugus at a later date.

The family thanks and acknowledges the caregiving team who were so loving and devoted to Marian’s care at her home over the past few years: Sandy Cotter, Cynthia French, Merrie Kirkland, Morgan Stevens, Debbie Oakes, Heather Jankowski, Tammy Thomazeski, Laura Royce, Kimberly Beauman, Karola Riehle and the Hospice team.

The family suggests memorials to Home Care and Hospice of Western, NY or Liberty Park Cemetery, Cattaraugus, NY.
